Stuffay is for compulsive shoppers who feel that Facebook and Twitter are just not meeting their social shopping needs. The app connects shopping enthusiasts to share tips on products, discover new items and keep up with trends. In essence, the app aims to provide “stuff what matters the most” to shoppers.

Like many social apps, Stuffay taps into the physiological need we all have to share timely information with others. With shoppers, that consumer intelligence could be things like a tip on a huge discount on an expensive dress, or news about a gadget that helps save electricity in the home. Some members may want to share a recent purchase with friends just for fun. Stuffay provides a mobile venue for passionate consumers to share their buying insights with other enthusiastic shoppers.

App users can take pictures of their favorite products and share with the community. The app displays shared products streams such as “Most Liked” and “Most Recent.” “Rising Stuffers” shows what is trending locally and globally. Stuffay members can also send posts to Facebook and Twitter.

Members can connect with others (called “fellow stuffers”) based on personal interests. Content may also be filtered through categories allowing for a personalized browsing of products. The app can also show shopping trends in your immediate area. Items recommended by stuffers can be purchased right from the app.

Studies show that peers are one of the strongest influencers in purchasing decisions. I’m sure retailers are paying attention to this community, and the developers counting on that interest as a way to monetize their app.

This app should be a lot of fun for shoppers allowing for virtual window-shopping and discovery among friends. Stuffay is available for Apple iOS devices.
